Vinland Points Event #1 May 26th
Vinland Motorsport presents Points Event #1 Sunday May 26th @ The Bell Island Airstrip.
Autocross is a great opportunity to test the limits of your car while improving your car handling and driving skills in a controlled environment.
Autocross is all about precision driving and car control. It’s not just a contest of horsepower and car modifications. Pretty much any car can compete in autocross as long as it’s in good working order.
First timers are always welcome to attend. If you are new to autocross and would like some help, you can have an experienced driver ride along with you as an instructor to offer coaching and tips for how you can improve your driving skills.
You’ll also have the opportunity to ride along with some of the more experienced drivers so you can see how they drive the course. The main goal of autocross is to provide a fun atmosphere where we can learn from each other and become better drivers.
For new participants we have a special award for the “Fastest Rookie Driver Of The Day”. This award is for people who are new to autocross. At the end of the day, the fastest novice driver will be presented with a certificate and bragging rights as the “Fastest Rookie Driver Of The Day!”
Price:
The regular event entry fee for Vinland members is $20 and $30 for non members. Annual memberships can be purchased on site for $40. There is no charge to come out and watch the event, but everyone who attends (drivers and spectators) will need to sign the waiver for insurance purposes.
Helmets:
If you don’t have a helmet, that’s ok because there are loaner helmets available. But if you are going to use your own helmet it has to be a Snell M2005 or newer, or Snell SA2005. If it’s not one of those ratings you cannot use it at the event due to insurance regulations.

NOTE: New Bell Island Ferry Schedule
——————————————
The New Bell Island ferry schedule has been published. Now that the Legionnaire is running the departure times have changed. The Saturday and Sunday crossings for the ferry will depart Portugal Cove at 7:45am and 9:05am. No more 8:20am boat that we used to get. We would prefer if you could make it for the 7:45am boat to help get the course set up earlier. If you’re a newcomer and miss the first ferry and the driver meeting you will not be allowed to participate. Newcomers must attend the driver meeting.
Depending on if there is a one or two vessel operation, the departure times on Saturday maybe 7:20am or 7:45am. So on Saturday morning please call 895-6931 for a recorded message of the ferry schedule for that day.
For newcomers, the Bell Island airstrip is located behind The town council building in the town of Wabana. You should not have any trouble following the rest of the competitors as we disembark, otherwise you can find it here: https://www.google.ca/maps/search/wabana+school/@47.6345724,-52.9797689,637m/data=!3m1!1e3
